What We Do
Hap House trains, employs and nurtures severely individuals with physical and mental disabilities or those who are blind or deaf, who were not able to fit into organized programs in the community for various reasons.
Hap House offers a day time vocational rehabilitation center, in which clients are able to become contributing citizens by doing piece work on contract labor jobs. The more severely disabled clients work with objects that will strengthen their upper body, and increase their hand to eye coordination. Our hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 8AM until 4PM. Clients can attend all five days a week or fewer, all day long or part of the day. Hap House offers FREE handicap-accessible transportation to and from the workshop daily, which enables clients to access our program and community. |
If you have a loved one who could benefit from HAP House's program, please contact by emailing Program Director James Williams or calling him at (318) 746-7470. |
How to Enroll Your Loved One Into Hap House's Program
Most of Hap House's funding for the services it provides comes from clients' Medicaid payments. If you are interested in enrolling your family member in Hap House's program and have not yet contacted the Office of Citizens with Development Disabilities (OCDD) to set up Medicaid services for your disabled family member, contact OCDD at (318) 741-7455. OCDD will put family member on a waiting list to receive one of these three Medicaid services:
It can take months or even years before your family member will become eligible to receive Medicaid services, so call OCDD right away!
In the meantime, OCDD will put you in touch with Easter Seals or Quality Independence or you can contact either of these agencies directly. Once you have been set up with and have met a case manager at either Easter Seals or Quality Independence, your case manager will contact Hap House.
Hap House will then begin the process to enroll your loved one into our program.
